The 2023 Beach Season has ended. All recreational bathing beaches are now closed for the season. Beach Season 2024 will commence Memorial Day weekend. Preseason sampling begins May 13, 2024 with results becoming available May 14, 2024.

2016–2023 Humpback Whale Unusual Mortality Event
In consultation with NOAA Fisheries, the lead federal agency responsible for evaluating potential impacts to marine life and habitats from human activities in federal waters, DEP has been monitoring an unusual humpback whale mortality event that has been affecting Atlantic coast states. EPA's Recreational Boater's Guide to Vessel Sewage
EPA developed "A Recreational Boater’s Guide to Vessel Sewage" to make it easy for recreational boaters to understand what federal law says about handling the sewage generated onboard vessels. Boaters will learn about marine sanitation devices, no-discharge zones, and how to use pumpout facilities. The Guide also provides information about the environmental impacts of vessel sewage discharges and recommends some easy ways for boaters to help keep our waters clean.
